In 1924 after Lenin's death the city was renamed
Leninakan. After postwar period the city was developing rapidly. There were built and put into operation several dozens big industrial enterprises, as: Weaving Sewing and Knitted Garments Factory, Plants of Polishing Machines, Smith-Pressing Equipment, Electro-technical, Condensers, Beer, Bicycles, Confectionery, Bread and other plants, schools, children's, health care and sports units. Wonderful monuments opened.
40 - 50 thousand people were involved in the sphere of industry and construction. Leninakan-Gyumri has given to our people, why not also to the whole world, such talents, as A. Isahakian, H. Shiraz, musicians - A. and N. Tigranians, singers - Sh. Talian, A. Gyurzadian, V. Khachatrian, scientists - Kh. Koshtoyan, A. Mnjoyan, A. Shahinian, Gharibjanian, S. Hambartsumian, architects - G. Aghababian, K. Hakobian, A. Tarkhanian, S. Kalashian, G. Mushegian, painters - M. and N. Aslamazians, H. Ananikian, S. Stepanian, H. Rukhkian, M. Svaghchian and many others.
The residents of Gyumri were peaceful and happy with their centuries long every day life, hard work and wit mind.
