The earthquake of 1988 destroyed many towns and villages of Armenia. Hundreds of thousands of people became the victims of this disaster.

This tragedy shook the world, awakening human mercy and affirming the truth that the whole meaning of existence is in love and kindness.

Years passed from that terrible times and the wounds have recovered a bit. But in order not to forget anything and to remember everything that we experienced at that time, the Charitable Non-governmental Organization ''GYUMRI - VERATSNUND " (REBIRTH) took the responsibility of the cherished mission of the building of the "MEMORIAL COMPLEX'' in Gyumri, as the sign of the eternal memory for the dead and as a tribute of gratitude towards nations and countries, who helped and supported us during that terrible days.

The ''MEMORIAL COMPLEX'' will be erected at the expenses of monetary donations, and in connection with it we urge all Armenians, native and foreign sponsors, all the people of goodwill to take an active part in founding this ''MEMORIAL COMPLEX'' as the embodiment of unshakable love of Armenians towards life and as a symbol of gratitude directed to all nations of our planet.
